Languages

Nowadays the command of a foreign language has become a necessity in the world of work, at a personal level and for those who want to travel abroad. Whilst there is no doubt that English has become one of the main languages used in business, the UK economy is losing billions of pounds every year because of our lack of language skills.

The aim of the Languages Faculty is first and foremost to make language learning a positive and rewarding experience, relevant to the needs of our students, whilst at the same time maintaining a lively and enjoyable atmosphere. At Arden we recognise the numerous advantages of speaking a foreign language ranging from our ability to communicate to acquiring a wider understanding of the multicultural world in which we live. The languages department is committed to providing an outstanding learning experience for our young learners so that they feel the same passion for foreign languages.

We aim to support our students in gaining a greater knowledge and understanding of the culture and customs of other countries and communities as well as to equip them with the language skills to enable them to communicate effectively either for work or leisure. The learning of languages is often not limited to classroom activities, we provide a wide range of enrichment activities such as study visits, exchanges, language business days, university day trips and work closely with the wider community.

We are able to offer three languages, Spanish, French and German across all three key stages.
