Sport Relief 2012
Sport Relief took over Arden on Friday 23 March, with staff and students attending for the day dressed in a 'sporting superstars' theme. Tennis players, American footballers, rugby players and even a few Usain Bolts were present as the day raised over £3000. The main event on the day was human table football which was set up in the sports hall throughout the day. Our very own Mr Eades made a Soccer am style hole of glory which provided lots of fun and competition whilst a Zumba class was put on in dance studio.
A whole school challenge was set - to collectively cycle to Edinburgh. Five exercise bikes were set up and were used throughout the day. Staff and students cycled for 3 minutes each and recorded their distance on a cycle challenge slip which was then added to a specially placed board in the sports hall. Whilst Arden didn't make it to Scotland we did go past Carlisle which is a great achievement.
Arden's charity co-ordinator Adam Goodridge said, ‘Once again the charity day was a huge success. The human table football is probably the best event we have ever had on a charity day. It was so much fun and the Staff v Year 7 and 8 girls football team after school was a great way to end the day. It was great to see so many people making the effort to get dressed up and it was all for a worthwhile cause'.
