Arden marks Remembrance Day
Form Captains, Senior Pupils, Sixth Form Students, Staff and Governors commemorated the anniversary of the commencement of the First World War in a special ceremony on the front lawn.
Mr Murphy, Arden's Executive Principal spoke about the significance of the event and explained the meaning of the three flags being raised: The Arden Flag represented Lance Corporal Tom Keys, former Arden pupil, who died serving in Iraq in 2003; the Solihull flag represented those in the community who have passed serving their country and the WW1 centenary anniversary flag. Head Girl Hannah Northam raised the Arden flag, Joseph Craven raised the Solihull flag and Geoff Harley-Mason (Arden's Chair of Governors) raised the WW1 commemorative flag.
The Last Post was played by Will Davison and following the one minute's silence (which was acknowledge throughout the whole school) Mr Murphy said a prayer.
