Building a vision for the future
Arden students were among 100 young people from Knowle, Dorridge and Bentley Heath who took part in ‘A Vision for the Future’ seminar at The Civic Suite, Solihull on Monday 1 February where they were encouraged to express their views on the changes facing the area over the next 15 years.
After a welcome from the Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Glenis Slater and a presentation from Solihull MBC Chief Executive, Mr Nick Page the pupils worked in focus groups to discuss issues such as housing, education, recreational facilities, transport and jobs. With the help of students from Arden, the primary school pupils created a ‘Vision Wall’ and each group gave a presentation to their peers on their vision for the future.
Pupils from Bentley Heath Church of England Primary School, Knowle Church of England Primary Academy, Dorridge Primary School and St George and St Teresa Catholic Primary School were assisted by our Senior Pupils and Student Council representatives along with staff from all five schools. Also in attendance were local elected members, SMBC Officers and members of the KDBH Neighbourhood Forum. More information about the issues facing the area can be found on the KDBH-NP website: www.kdbh-np.org
