Distinguished guest for A level students
Adrian Barlow, the President of the English Association and former Director of Public and Professional Programmes at the University of Cambridge, came to speak to the English Literature A level group on 27 January. He spoke about the importance of context in literature and gave some interesting insights into the work of Emily Bronte, Caryl Churchill and Sylvia Plath.
The students, who are currently preparing their coursework dissertations, found the session stimulating and useful and were not afraid to ask questions and make known their own views on the authors in question. Mr White and Mrs Thompson have reported that some very pleasing essays have now been handed in.
It was a real pleasure to have Adrian in the school to share some of his knowledge and experience with us.
