Fantastic A Level results
The class of 2015 some 160 students (the highest number on record at Arden) have performed incredibly well in their A Level examinations.
We are all very aware that the bar has once again been raised nationally and despite the removal of the January module examinations which undoubtedly made life much more difficult for this year group we are delighted to report a pass rate once again of 100% with nearly two thirds of our students gaining the prestigious A*-B grades. The percentage of A* grades was once again above the national average.
With over 85% of all grades being above grade C we are very proud of the achievements of every single one of our students who will now move on to the next exciting challenge that awaits them, be that at University or in employment.
With all students doing so well it is hard to single out special praise but we wanted to specifically congratulate Emma Smith with her 4 A* grades who is on her way to the University of Cambridge to study Computer Science and Laura Wheatley who is going to be reading Material Science at Trinity College University of Oxford. We have the following students going off to Medical School Oliver Mason (Manchester) and Miriam Farrant (Leeds). Harris Tooke and Anita Desia are off to study Dentistry at Cardiff.
There were many individual successes and the following students all achieved the equivalent of three A grades or better.
Edward Bewick, Benjamin Carter, Rose Crees, Molly Maurice-Smith, Emiliy Mitic, Max Palgrave, Alexandre Richard, Martha Rowe, Madeline Saunders, Emma Smith, Amrita Thind, Harris Tooke, Laura Wheatley, George Woodbridge, Daniel Colman, Anita Desia, Roopkaran Dhanjal, Miriam Farrant, Sian Last, Rebecca Marsden and George Wood.
This year’s students were a credit to the school, themselves and their parents. They were very special year group since over a third of the students had joined the sixth from other schools reflecting the increasing popularity of the Arden Sixth Form in the local region. They have been wonderful ambassadors in every sense not only performing superbly in the academic arena but in the help and support they gave to younger students through mentoring, the fundraising they accomplished and the relationships they built with all members of the local community.
I know I speak for all the teaching staff and support staff at Arden who enjoyed working with them so much, the Governors who have watched with interest the progress of this year group in these changing and challenging educational times in wishing every single one of them a most happy and successful future. We are incredibly proud of every single one of them.
