Solihull's new Mayor visits Arden
The Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Tildesley, joined parents, staff and students in viewing the Creative Arts & Technology Department's Summer Exhibition held in The Smart Centre.
On show were examples of artwork completed by Sixth Form and Year 11 students, textile skills, design products and some mouth-watering food dishes in a 'Masterchef' style competition for seventeen Year 7 pupils. The theme of the competition was 'rethink' - pupils had to design and make a dish that used Fairtrade, locally sourced produce or fruit & vegetables in season to make the dish as sustainable as possible.
The Mayor was kind enough to judge the food and was most effusive in his praise for the level achieved by all who entered the competition. He declared his favourite to be a pasta dish, Pasta Primavera, which was produced by Annabel Taplin.
We would like to thank the Mayor for his time and enthusiasm - everyone appreciated his involvement particularly the pupils who felt very honoured to have him attend their Exhibition.
