Successful gymnasts
Arden gymnasts had an incredibly successful day at the West Midlands Schools Gymnastic competition held at Fenton Manor (Stoke on Trent) on Saturday 30 January. So successful in fact, five of our teams have progressed through to the national finals.
The U19 teams had a superb afternoon with gold medals for the boys and the mixed A team. Silver medals were won by the mixed B team and the girls won bronze against some extremely stiff opposition.
The U14 boys were unopposed due to injuries among other teams, winning gold outright. The mixed team had a fantastic morning coming a very close second and in the process beating schools with some highly trained club gymnasts. The U14 girls were our only team not to medal but acquitted themselves superbly.
Winning teams go through to the Floor & Vault Nationals on Sunday 1 May.
Our Milano teams gained gold and silver and qualify for the National trios championships on Friday 11 March.
Individual bronze and silver in the U19 boys went to Ed Elvidge and Joe Butler respectively. Corey Allen won not only the individual U14 boys competition but the George Finney Trophy for the highest overall score.
Congratulations to all our gymnasts and a huge thanks to Mrs Bennett for all of her vault coaching and Mr Pillinger who gave up his Saturday to enable us all to attend.
