Superb GCSE results
Following on from last week's OUTSTANDING A-level results, we are delighted to announce this year's GCSE success. Once again almost 100% of our pupils achieved 5 A*- C GCSE grades or equivalent. Of these almost 80% achieved A*-C in English and Mathematics. Our results at A* are once again well above the national average and the percentage has increased against a drop nationally. Our students have reached their challenging targets and we are particularly pleased that we have achieved such truly impressive results when the bar has been significantly raised nationally and the exam system has seen dramatic change. These are turbulent times and how the government measure student outcomes has changed again. It is with great pride we can report that students are making even better progress this year and our value added scores are the best we have seen.
Congratulations to every student in the Class of 2016 your parents should be very proud of your achievements. We have seen breathtaking performance in all areas of GCSE and the vocational examination subjects and this has been down to the hard work and determination of our fantastic students.
Our students continue to excel at the top grades of A* and A with almost a third of our students achieving these grades in 5 or more of their subjects.
There have also been many individual success stories. The following students gained at least 9 A* or A grades: Fife Akinosi, Jonathan Blackhurst, Meg Burn, Amelia Crees, Alex Douglas, Peter Fitzroy, Ella Gavigan, Ellie Horsley, Lillian Jenkins, Anna Jonker, Charlotte Lack, Katie Lane, Marcus Madurai, Tess McGoldrick, Lydia Morris, Chloe Mychajuk, George Partridge, Ben Phillips, Hannah Plumbly, Balwant Rai, Nicholas Rice, Ellie Richardson, Olivia Saunders, Rebecca Tinley, Max Wilkinson and Heidi Youssef
However, the most outstanding results were achieved by Shirin Anari and Isla Chaplin who both gained A* in every one of their 10 GCSE subjects.
I must also thank all my colleagues who are an outstanding team of staff who guided, coached and inspired our students through five years of learning. Without their professional expertise, stamina and endless patience these results would not have been achieved.
We are also looking forward to welcoming and celebrating their fantastic success over the next two days as they enroll with students from other schools in the area into our very popular and successful Sixth Form.
The Class of 2016 is a wonderful group of young people and their achievements and progress are very well deserved. Their impact across Arden has been exceptional. We wish every one of them all the very best for the future and every success in their lives ahead.
