Will Coakes
Congratulations to Will Coakes who collected the award for Young Volunteer of the Year at the Warwickshire LTA Awards.
Below is the recommendation that was put forward by the coaches and tennis sub-committee for the nomination
" Although, only 14, Will's contribution to the mini tennis programme at K&D is significant by any standards. Will started to help out with coaching the younger children nearly 2 years ago and from the start was enthusiastic, encouraging and brought fun with a great sense of humour to the sessions, even managing a smile when losing a point to a mini tennis red player!
Since then, Will has contributed nearly 300 hours on a voluntary basis helping with all groups in the coaching programme as well as every holiday course, competition and social event we have run..... even our Christmas disco where he was surrounded on the dance floor by 30 small children! He is a responsible and reliable young man who is keen to learn. Always willing to listen, he is able to reflect on his own practice and lessons as a whole and often offers sensible suggestions and imaginative ideas to engage the children. His knowledge of tennis and coaching has grown, along with his confidence both on and off the court.
We are nominating Will for this award as we feel extremely fortunate to have a young person who is as committed and keen as Will at K&D. With his mature attitude and his enthusiasm, he is developing all the skills that will one day make him an extremely competent and a valuable addition to any club or coaching team. "
