BTEC Sport
Pearson BTEC Award course is a vocational subject delivered within Key Stage 4 to both Year 10 and Year 11. It offers an engaging programme for students who are clear about the area of employment they wish to enter. The Award can be followed alongside GCSE PE and allow progression to study Level 3 Nationals in Sport and Sport & Exercise Sciences at post-16.
The Award is studied through Year 10 and 11 and is equivalent to one GCSE. It covers key knowledge and practical skills required in the appropriate vocational sector. The course covers four modules which equates to the combined 120 guided learning hours. Of these, two mandatory modules are worth 25% each and two selected optional modules which equate to 25% each. Students must achieve a Pass mark in both mandatory modules to achieve a Pass overall. The units followed are:
