A Level Results – Summer 2023
We are delighted to congratulate our Year 13 cohort who have today received their A Level results. The performance of this cohort shows considerable improvements on the results of 2019, which are deemed to be the last comparable set of results (due to the alterations to the exam system during and after Covid 19). To see our current Year 13s achieve 2/3 of a grade higher than their peers in 2019 is a great achievement for our students and for us as a school; this is testament to the hard work of all involved.
An average grade of a B across our cohort of 141 students, comprising 440 examination results, is an excellent achievement and one that we are very proud of. We are thrilled to see 35% of grades awarded at A* and A, with 66% being awarded at A*- B. Initial national figures indicate that 26.5% of grades awarded are A* - A, demonstrating just how well our students have done.
We could not be happier with our Year 13 students; heavily impacted throughout their secondary school journey, they have demonstrated great resilience and determination to secure a tremendous set of results that they should all be exceptionally proud of.
No A Level results are achieved without great amounts of hard work; the determination and drive shown by our Year 13s has been excellent. We also want to recognise the hard work of our staff who have equally worked tirelessly to support, guide and inspire our students to achieve the success they have this year.
We send all of our students our very best wishes as they now see their plans come to fruition and they embark on their next steps. For the majority of our students, this is a journey off to university, with a smaller number taking up apprenticeships, employment and planned gap years.
Our successful enrichment program, to support competitive applications for specific courses and universities, has seen: Mia Evans take up a place at the University of Nottingham to study Medicine, Summer Davies take up her place at the University of Bristol to study Medicine, Atiya Rehman intending to study Medicine overseas, and Hussnaine Jamil take up a place at the University of Birmingham to study Dentistry.
Each student’s achievements are valued enormously and are achieved within their own personal contexts. For some it is not appropriate for us to share personal stories of resilience and courage, but we want you all to know just how proud we are of how hard you have worked to achieve your own success.
For others it is easier to recognise their achievements publicly; we would, therefore, like to particularly mention the following students who have achieved exceptional results:
Students achieving all A and A* grades:
Ella Malcolm, Sophie Miller, Nathan Carter, Phoebe Peake, Maddie Knowles, Edward Jackson, Callum Brindley-Jones, Tali Siniver, Rachel Walker, Maddie McPherson, Greg Gahan, Rosie Davila, Summer Davies, Oscar Cawthorne, Mia Evans, Charlotte Whitehill, Layla Whitney and David Reeves.
Students achieving 3 or more A grades:
Theo Tonkin, Oliver Swann, Holly Stoneman, Imogen Penny, Becky Nixon, Andrew Hawker, Rachel Batchelor, Jai Bains and Emily Tomkins.
We are proud of each and every one of our students for their own individual achievements and the opportunities that they have created for themselves. More than ever, each individual within this cohort has faced their own challenges and circumstances, making the story behind each and every individual’s grade an important one. Thank you for the magnificent way that you have approached every aspect of your education and how well you have coped with the challenges that you have faced.
