Inspirational rugby visitor
On Thursday 5 February, selected pupils from Year 7 and 8 spent the afternoon with Wasps RFC ambassador and former English rugby player Paul Sackey.
Paul spent time answering questions (some of them quite probing and insightful) and also passing on some of his valuable experience from a career that saw him make 22 England appearances, score 11 tries and play in the 2007 World Cup Final.
The pupils then had a chance to have their photographs taken with Paul and the Heineken cup and also receive signed photographs. Undoubtedly though the highlight of the afternoon was when the pupils had the opportunity to take part in a rugby training session run by Wasps RFC coaches and Paul himself.
Wasps have been kind enough to offer the pupils a chance to experience a match day atmosphere with free tickets for their Wasps v Harlequins match, a great opportunity for them once again.
Our thanks go out to Paul and Wasps RFC for giving our students such a great time and inspiring them hugely. They really appreciated the opportunity and have gained a lot from the experience. We would also like to thank Verity Brown for organising the session.
