Restart a Heart Day
Arden was extremely proud to be involved in the Europe-wide 'Restart a Heart Day' which aims to raise awareness of what to do when faced with cardiac arrest. The training, which was given to all year groups, was delivered by medical personnel including ambulance staff and community responders. It was a very 'hands on' experience for the students who were also shown a video called 'Cameron's story' which highlights the importance of the day and the skills they will learn.
Fewer than one in ten out-of-hospital cardiac arrest patients survive because CPR has only been delivered to two of the ten patients. The benefits of improving bystander CPR rates are linked to the highest survival rates - so skills learned today could be crucial.
Thank you to everyone who made the day possible particularly Mrs Crane who co-ordinated the timetable so successfully, ensuring all students received training. Comments from parents have been very positive 'Absolutely delighted the children had this fantastic learning experience today, my daughter was thrilled to take part. Thank you.' and 'Thank you. Such a great lesson for our children to learn.'
