Year 8 and 9 History Ambassador’s visit
On 21st January, Year 8 and 9 History Ambassadors attended a screening of ‘No Asylum: The Untold Chapter of Anne Frank’s Story’ at Solihull School. The screening was held to commemorate Holocaust Memorial day 2019. The film told Anne Frank’s story but placed emphasis on her father, Otto Frank’s attempt to gain asylum in America. The film presented recently discovered letters that had been written by Otto Frank to his contacts around the world in a bid to gain asylum for him, his wife and two daughters. The students watched the screening and participated in a Q&A session with three Holocaust survivors; Eva Schloss who is Anne Frank’s stepsister and survivor of Auschwitz concentration camp, Tomi Reichental who survived Bergen Belson and finally Mindu Hornick who survived Auschwitz concentration camp. The students asked the survivors questions about their experiences and learnt a huge amount from the opportunity.
